Why You Should Utilize The Six Types of Working Genius

The world doesn’t need yet another ‘personality assessment’ is the strong reaction I had when I heard Patrick Lencioni and the Table Group were releasing The Six Types of Working Genius. There are so many great assessments to choose from - why do we need another one?!

But I went from being dismissive and unenthusiastic about Working Genius to a raving fan, once I started to see its power, simplicity and applicability to the world of work.

7 reasons you should utilize The Six Types of Working Genius

  1. It’s not another ‘personality assessment’. Rather, it's 80% productivity. In the workplace, understanding personalities is important, but productivity is ultimately the goal.

  2. The Model is highly intuitive, with people typically grasping & relating to the model within minutes. Too many other assessments take well over an hour of explaining to get to the same level of understanding.

  3. Working Genius is highly applicable to many aspects of the workplace, from hiring, staffing teams with complementary strengths, ensuring work is progressing efficiently through the organization, getting people into the right role, increasing team productivity, improved meeting effectiveness and overall employee engagement.

  4. Increases people’s self awareness and how they need to interact with their teammates.

  5. Working Genius is a non judgemental assessment - everyone has two geniuses, two competencies and two frustrations. Nobody’s Working Genius profile is better or worse than anyone else.

  6. There is a growing body of resources available to help you implement Working Genius fully in your company including The Working Genius Podcast.

  7. The “why” behind Working Genius is to truly help people find more meaning, joy & satisfaction in their work. This is a truly worthwhile endeavor, and Working Genius has the ability to deliver on its purpose.
